The problem isn't with deskbar applet or even with SOAPpy, it is with
fpconst.py which in ubuntu is bundled as part of SOAPpy. The version of
SOAPpy with (dapper at least) is quite old (~2004), and so is the
version of fpconst. The updated version 0.72 of fpconst.py fixes the

upstream bug, but I think it is different bug then the one in that forum thread.
