You have been subscribed to a public bug: When you double click on i.e. an Open Office document, Open office is started as it should. Since Open Office takes a few moments to load it would be great to have some visual feedback with the mouse pointer saying "it is started", maybe a busy-cursor for a short while, but can still do other things on the desktop. As for now I always look at my harddisk diode to see if the double-click was recognized.
