I also saw Items in the trash may not be modified. Copying it instead
of restoring the original worked.
Something is really messed up if it thinks restoring is illegally
modifying trash files.

I am having the same problem as well. I tried to restore a folder that
had important files. Kept receiving Items in the trash may not be
modified. Copying it instead of restoring the original worked.

I'm having the exact same problem in 11.04. I can't even get copy-paste
to work. This is terrible!
