On system startup my mic appears to be muted, the volume slider in the
input tab in the audio preferences dialog is at the same level it was
before power off but the signal strenght is zero, I found out that a way
to "unmute" the mic is switching to a different input device (from the
drop down list) and then back to the original setting (i.e. the one the
mic is actually attached to, "mic1" in my case). Best regards, Andrea
