Rejecting the bug for now, since the original reporter is unable to
repeat it again.
Per your report, it seems like the symbolic link from /usr/bin/X was
somehow erased. (though it is not possible to confirm since you don't
have this installation anymore)

sorry no I can't! I neded my laptop so I formated it and installed 32
bit version of ubuntu and now all works fine... I'll give 64bit another
try in the next ubuntu version.

This problem exists only in 64bit version of ubuntu dapper.
When I try to "startx" I get:
/etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 2: /usr/bin/X11/X: No such file or directory
/etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc: line 2: exec: /usr/bin/X11/X: No such file or
directory
giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 111)
