DVD playing in 11.04 fails in 2 different ways for the 2 DVDs that I
still own. However, the errors are both completely different from the
one originally reported in this thread against 9.10 by dnz on
2009-10-31.
So, Pedro, it is up to you to decide how you wish to handle this
problem.

There's no need to install non-free software, as comment 9 suggests

I can reproduce that error on a vanilla installation of Ubuntu. Here
are the stops I took to resolve the problem on both Ubuntu 9.10 x86_32
and Kubuntu 9.10 x86_64.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/i

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 9.10 x86-64. It went away after I
installed gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs and all gstreamer0.10-plugins-*.
Unfortunately, I did it in one step and I can't pinpoint the package
that solved it.
