Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

I just upgraded to Ubuntu Karmic Koala, and I cannot get Empathy to save
my account settings. I have tried using the Import from Pidgin wizard
which has my accounts setup and is working fine. I have also tried
adding the accounts manually. But when I click on Connect, it does
nothing, and when I use the "Welcome to Empathy" wizard with the "Yes,
I'll enter my account details now" option, I enter the information and
it says "The Supplied CM parameters were not valid." and if you hit the
back button it just produces more back buttons on the dialog (see
attached picture). I am really wondering why the Ubuntu developers
scrapped Pidgin for Empathy. I'm finding Empathy to be completely
unusable. The only thing I'm seeing it has over Pidgin is Audio/Video
chat. Which I haven't gotten that to work either...
