Pedro, this is designed behavior so you should probably mark this 'Won't
Fix'. In previous bugs, I have asked devs about having a gstreamer
fallback if no pulseaudio is present, and none of the devs seemes
enthusiastic about it, claiming not enough time/manpower etc. As I said
in comment #2, use
I think this is really more of a bug with gnome-settings-daemon.
Anyway... if you want to run GNOME in Karmic without PulseAudio:
