Public bug reported: I'm new to Ubuntu, but not new to computers. I have been working hard to install the nvidia drivers for my Dell C840 to get the full GUI effects but cannot get past a duplicated top portion of the desktop on the bottom of the screen, and colored bars on the right side of the screen. I use the Nvidia X server settings to set the display but to no effect on the color bars or the duplicate. When I uninstall the driver everything is fine, I just can't run the GUI effects. It seems like I'm missing something and its probably something simple. I'm probably not un-Windows enough yet. I love this operating system. I've been using Ubuntu off and on now for about six months and since version 9.10 I hardly revert back to windows anymore. Sorry if this is not enough information, Thanks for reading. Frank
