Most of the time, this problem is due to a plugin.
If you get that message, try to remove the last plugin you've installed.
For example, removing rhytmarty or TitleBar can be helping.

I figured it out.
Plug-in was the cause off crashing
When i disabled plug-in TitleBar crashing stopped.

I have same bug.
Rhythmbox 0.12.8
I can produce this bug if i do update in synaptic while rhythmbox is playing
music.
I have used Backtrace gdb to run rhythmbox with option --sync
If i can do something more please say

Am sorry but am still new to Linux..so the method that was suggested to
backtrace the actual problem seemed too complex with all the CLI statements
that I was hoping for a easier GUI assisted method to trace the error...Plz
forgive my ignorance...
I reinstalled the whole OS now Rhythmbox works
