I tried the open two instances idea. It's a no-go unless you have infinite patience for adjusting window size and positions, and don't mind wasting the space for the fourth (second / extra) places? column or covering it with the left side screen, and bouncing around to keep it covered. This

i would politely suggest that an extra pane default option would be essential in netbook remix due to desktop space issues, comparing/drag- dropping files between folders is very uncomfortable at the moment because of the lack of title-bar when windows are maximized, having to press F3 everytime
