This *is* fixed now, however strangely only since today's upgrade (28.3.2010). Marking as fixed. ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- g-p-m's brightness control doesn't work on Thinkpad T60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527436 You received this bug

The patch has been included in the Lucid 2.6.32-17.26 kernel. Can you please update and test? ** Changed in: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- g-p-m's brightness control doesn't work on Thinkpad T60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527436 You received this bug

In fact, now (as of beta1), it's even worse/irritating: When I use the keyboard to adjust brightness, that works, but is presumable handled by the machine itself/BIOS. However, at each keystroke, the ibus tray icon changes it's visibility from hidden to shown and back. -- g-p-m's brightness

Re the lack of brightness OSD, there is a patch under review for the 2.6.33-stable kernel which may help. See http://lkml.org/lkml/2010/3/12/518 for details. -- g-p-m's brightness control doesn't work on Thinkpad T60 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/527436 You received this bug notification

I confirm this bug on my thinkpad T510. A workaround is to change brightness in text-mode VT (ie. crtl+alt+f1, change brightness, ctrl+alt+f7 to switch back to X.) The lack of OSD is a new development since 26/02, I think it requires a separate bug report. -- g-p-m's brightness control doesn't
