Still happening: I just hit this in a newly installed feisty (using existing preferences from an older gaim, of course). Fortunately this bug was the first google hit and ctrl-R fixed it (thanks, Gerr!) -- Black background in conversations after upgrade to 2.0beta3

Daniel, it happened to gaim on my desktop too when I updated from 1.5 to 2.0beta1, for jabber, I've mentionned it on bug #28361. That's easy to fix from the preferences but should not happen on upgrade -- Black background in conversations after upgrade to 2.0beta3

I consulted with the people on #gaim and learned that using control-R resolves the problem. Go to the preferences window where the black on black text box is shown (2.0b3 has this page at least) and click in the black box. Then use the control sequence. The next time an IM window is opened, the
