I believe this is the expected behaviour and that my usecase was not an
accepted one (even though valid i believe). So this bug can be closed.

note that it works the same way in a webbrowse, your bookmark the
webpage you are reading, not the url you might have selected there

Sorry have been a bit slow on the updating of my bug.
I open a new windows click on the new folder i want bookmarked and the
click add bookmark. Then check the bookmark menu and nothing. This has
been tested of a new folder that is not already on the bookmarks list.
So this bug still exists for
nautilus bookmark the directory you are in not the one selected, could
you confirm it works if you enter this one?

That works but for me it is not the expect behaviour for adding a
bookmark. This does not conform to the original behaviour of the
bookmark feature and also not with other operating systems and the way
they work. This may be considered a bug, Depends on the direction you
want to go. But for me and

Can you please confirm that you are able to use your original method to
bookmark a folder in Nautilus? If so, then I believe it is working as
designed. it is important that your current directory is not already
bookmarked.
