I can add some good news on this bug! I just booted my netbook from a
11.04 Live CD (well on a flash drive actually). The resolution is 1024 x
600 and it is running the Unity interface. When I call up gnome-disk-
utility it is too big to fit on the screen both vertically and
horizontally.
Happens to me too,
On two different computers 32 bit and 64 bit both,
Happens when selecting pen-drives too, I think it has the problem when
selecting devices with defined partitions.

This bug also affects desktop edition.
When I select a hard disk and try to maximize, the window doesn't fit to
screen. The problem occurs only if I click on hard drive when the window
isn't maximized.
Follows attached a screenshot of problem. The window state is maximized
but the window isn't
