I thought I was bitten by this, but discovered I was affected by LP#544994 instead (Rhythmbox improperly trying to open USB PTP camera). This might be a different issue, but since it was very inobvious, make sure Rhythmbox is not running when testing. -- Canon camera not auto mounted by gphoto2
