Still don't have the solution for this bug? It happen to me each time I
boot my computer. Solve it by change the time format as mentioned
before.

Some workaround tips I've developed:
Almost any action that forces the panel to redraw itself will
temporarily fix the problem. This is why doing things like changing
styles and moving panel orientation gives temporary relief. My usual
maneuver is to briefly change the size of the panel in
Hi,
I can also confirm this bug (Ubuntu 10.10 amd64). I do not use unity and
have that problem only if I use multiple screens. To bes specific, I
mirror my laptop screen to a larger one, using a docking station.

Update: The problem still exists in Clock 2.30.2. I am also using a
custom theme. Changing the time format (12 or 24 hour format) fixes the
problem for the rest of the session.

Update: I've discovered that this bug seems to be associated with Unity
in 10.10 Netbook Edition on my computer so I'll just use Gnome. As much
as I like Unity, it seems to be buggy (the Unity launcher also ignores
clicks sometimes). Or maybe I'll install Xfce. I've like it in the
past.

I'm running 10.10 Netbook Edition on a Samsung N145P netbook (Atom CPU)
and have the same bug. The date does not update on the desktop but the
system date is correct. I find it amazing that this bug is listed as
low priority and is unassigned.

Further to my previous comment #16, I rebuilt my PC recently and opted
to stick with 10.04 LTS. It's incredibly annoying that I'm still getting

Just moved the panel to the side and the clock started updating, moved
it back to the bottom and now it is ticking off the seconds and appears
to be working. If it locks again I am going to try un-installing and

Very annoying! Mine does the same thing as reported here! I also have

~$ killall gnome-panel; not elegant or satisfying but it works. This is a
problem over multiple installations but does not consistently happen. It is
quite annoying that it has not been fixed by now.

Why is this a low priority? I am always checking the time so as not to
miss meetings, and since I travel, I need that clock to be able to
change locations and not freeze up. I guess I need to go buy one of
those sticky LED clocks for my monitor. Do they still sell those?

This has to be related to other bugs... just not sure which one. If you
search for frozen clock you will get a few hits.
I have this same issue on 10.04, 64 bit, but can add a little more
information. Everything in the indicator applet seems to hang
visually at the same time, but still works
Same here. Clock in the panel just stops, even terminal shows correct
time.

Gnomel panel version: 2.30.2.
I have just upgraded to 10.04.1 from 8.04. Now I have similar issue too.
The clock sometimes does not show up when I login after reboot. killall does
not restart the clock but re-login helps.
The syslog message attached by Shane can be found too.

I have been having the clock freeze as well, perhaps this is the same
issue. The syslog shows this at the exact time the clock froze:

It worked correctly last night by reinstalling gnome-panel and restarting.
I am not near the machine now and will try killall this evening (Eastern
time U.S.).

A cold start showed a frozen clock on the panel. Restarting the panel with
killall gnome-panel re-started the clock on the panel.
