When will the bzr head be pushed into edgy?
Whenever an application crashes, I am unable to use my machine for at
least ten minutes.

The current apport bzr head renices itself, so that userspace is not
slowed down so heavily any more (on my system, rhythmbox now continues
to play music flawlessly and there is no visible stuttering any more
either), so this should help a bit.
Unfortunately, the report is created by a kernel
