Binary package hint: metacity

~/.xsession-errors reports a failure to read a session file, and the
containing folder ~/.config/metacity does not exist-

There are actually many subsequent errors in my .xsession-errors that
may or may not be related:

/etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup...
Setting IM through im-switch for locale=en_IE.
Start IM through /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/all_ALL linked to 
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/default.
