I deleted the .compiz folder from my HOME directory. It did not fix the problem but now the .xsession-errors file writes upon reboot. I've attached it for your review. /etc/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... Setting IM through im-switch for locale=en_US. Start IM through

There are similarities in behavior with that bug but it doesn't seem to be exact. Only Font and Visual Effect setting aren't preserved. Theme and Background are preserved. As to session storing. I don't know. I did a clean install of Lucid (because every time I use upgrade from one distro to

I had some free time this a.m. so I reinstalled Karmic and the problem went away. I then re-installed Lucid and it came back. I think that makes it safe to say that there is something going on with Lucid. How can I further troubleshoot this problem? -- Apperance Preferences aren't preserved on

Yes I believe I can write to my user directory without any problem. Or rather, I haven't hadn't any problems that make me think I can't. It is on a separate partition from the file system and has functioned without issue since Edgy. Currently the permissions are: Owner Read Write Execute Group
