This is what I am getting:

I don't recall it in 10.04 but I did get the same scrambled screens when
I used the proprietary drivers in either 10.04 or 10.10

I get the same message while booting. All I've noticed is that I need to
re-enable visual effects in Preferences/Appearance.
Also running Maverick. It's not a problem in Lucid.
