I note that this is still an issue in Ubuntu 10.10. Items are offset
even though the timezone in Google is the same as the machines.

This issue seems to be more an issue where the client that sends the
meeting request is using the incorrect timezone.
I noticed that this was mostly happening when one specific colleague of
mine invited me to meetings, but it never happened when anyone else
invited me to meetings.

This specific problem is not limited to the native Google Calendar support
within Evolution.
After I experienced the problem described in this bug report using the native
Google Calendar support, I then used CalDAV to configure a calendar to
interface with my Google Calendar, but experienced
