Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager
After updating Toshiba laptop to latest maverick I can now no longer
change the panel brightness. The notify indicator comes up to show the
slider as I adjust the brightness with the Fn+ function keys but the
brightness doesn't actually change.

In addition testing the brightness panel applet it sticks on 100% and
refuses to let me change it. if I click the brightness applet I get the
pop up slider but if I click anywhere on the slider it disappears and
doesn't change. Scrolling mouse wheel up and down does nothing also. I
don't know if these are related.
