It seems there is also a problem with copying files from the share. I
tried to copy a small file from the share to my desktop. Nautilus gave
me a popup saying that memory allocation failed. I have over 1 GB of
free RAM.

I think the problem happens for all files despite their size. In fact,
if I copy a file to the share, the file is copied to the share, but its
size is truncated to 0.
I connected the share by searching from nautilus places - network and
there wippies - wd_extern011.
