Thanks Saivann, the link you provided actually points to a Thunderbird
problem.
As for the problem I have, I have a different issue than what you
describe as I did see that issue in some postings and I manually deleted
the user and the home folder was not there when I checked. However, the
Thanks for your fast confirmation (and sorry for the wrong link, I can't
get to find the right one).. From now on, can you give detailed steps
about how you reproduce this bug? Does it happens with any user name? Do
you have any warnings in the terminal if you start users-admin from
there? All
Alan : I think that the bug you have is bug 154145 which happens when a
previously existing user is deleted in users-admin and that the /home
folder of this user is not deleted.

I have exactly the same problem with Hardy (with the most recent updates

This bug is currently fixed in latest Hardy but I don't think that it
will be fixed for Gutsy since it cannot be fixed without upgrading Gnome

Thanks for your comment. You are right, I can reproduce that behavior
here too. Can you look if someone already opened a bug report for that
issue in launchpad and bugzilla.gnome.org ? If it's not the case, can
you open a bug report in both and give us the link to that bug report?

I dont know if my bug really relates to this but i think so.
What i did:
I fiddled around with the user management in kubuntu (System Settings, User
Managament)
Added a user, and deleted him again because i couldnt login with the new user.
I moved on to the console and added a new user with
Um, Sorry, i noticed to late that i was in the ubuntu path of launchpad and not

It's not fixed in ubuntu yet but it seems to be fixed upstream since a
few days ago, according to
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300016 .
We'll have to wait until it get in ubuntu repositories before confirming
that it fixes this issue, or build it and test it.

According to the fact that a new bug #178621 has been opened for Gutsy

issue myself in both Gutsy and Hardy, I re-open that bug report. It's
still not possible to add a new user which already existed in the past.

A proper workaround is probably to just do sudo delgroup username
and then to re-add the user, altough editing /etc/groups will *probably*
do the same.

I have found a solution for this bug:
users-admin does not completely delay the entries of the user from
/etc/passwd and /etc/groups. When you delay manually these entries, you
can add newly an prevously delayed user.
