i am not sure if this is still an issue, suspend works in most cases
now.
i am sure that i disabled all indexing (system-preferences-search and
indexing - remove all directory paths) to make my machine faster, so
perhaps this contributed to solve the problem?

this probably also affects me:
i often cannot suspend the computer and this is due to a D status of
the gnome-settings-daemon which fails to freeze according to dmesg
how could i debug this? should I add --debug to the Exec= in
/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-settings-daemon.desktop ? where will the
