I incidentally ran into this error, I put the workaround here so others
can find it. This is apparently caused by the order of name resolution
in /etc/nsswitch.conf. If wins happens before dns in the name
resolution chain, evolution aborts with the error reported (when the
MAPI plugin is

evolution-mapi started this break. I guess no exchange for a while.
