I did :
touch gsd-randr-debug
in /home/myname
But no log was produced.

did you restart your session for the log?
reading your log you have several
ERROR: Invalid X Screen 1 specified on line 57 of configuration file
'/home/slyons/.nvidia-settings-rc' (there is only 1 X Screen on this

Yes, I rebooted, got the issue, then attached the log .
In work I am normally hooked up to a monitor. When I reboot and the
monitor is attached, all is good.
At home I am not hooked up to a monitor, therefore I get the display
error. I expect this display error as I got it prior to upgrading to
Could you remove that nvidia file and see if that fixes the issue you
get at home? If it does it means there is a bug in the nvidia tools
which try to apply that configuration when you are not at work and break
other things when it doesn't apply correctly

i moved the file to .bak .
