totem-audio-preview claims to play the audio stream of a video:

Usage:
totem-audio-preview [OPTION…] Plays audio passed on the standard input or
the filename passed on the command-line
Help Options:
-h, --help Show help options
--help-all Show all help options
--help-gst Show GStreamer Options
Application Options:
-m, --mimetype List the supported mime-types
--g-fatal-warnings Make all warnings fatal

But it actually plays the first minute or so and then kills itself:

The bug is (preferably) that it should play the full audio stream in the
absence of a flag specifying what amount to play, or, failing that, that
the help text is manifestly incorrect. In the latter case, this is also
a wishlist item that it should be able to play a configurable amount of
the stream, including the entire stream.
