As per the bug report, the issue was in Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy), in the dialog that pops up when attempting to connect to a Samba share. The fast way to replicate this is to hit Alt-F2 to bring up the Run Application dialog, and type smb://server/share. Alternately, you can through Places - Connect
