[Bug 38574] Re: Pb syncing treo 650 on dapper drake

2006-05-10 Thread Matt Davey
Hi, a couple of points from gnome-pilot.

The 'invalid free' bug has just been fixed in CVS. I don't know why it has
only recently shown up (it was reported on fedora) as the problem code was
rather old. Anyway, that's a straight bug.

Another problem has also been fixed, which may have caused some of the
unreliability problems. Frank: do you find multiple /dev/ttyUSB* devices being
created and hanging around? i.e. more than just the usual two? If so, you're
affected by this bug, which again has been fixed in CVS.

[Bug 13199] Re: Drag n' Drop directories from File-Roller is somewhat tricky

2006-05-10 Thread mangar
If there isn't any patch available, what about changing the
default archive manager?

for example:
xarchiver:
http://xarchiver.xfce.org/
or
xarchive:
http://xarchive.sourceforge.net/

(that's what i've found on gnomefiles.org, sorry for not trying harder..)

Those might not be the official gnome utilities, but if they work,
and adhere to the FOSS license, why not use them (especially
with the goal of long term support)?

thanks in advance!

Luke, if you dnd an image the text areas of the dialog with ICQ it asks
if you want to use it as icon or insert it to the message or send it,
which is fine. If you do that for a jabber contact it only asks if you
want to set an icon for the contact, which is probably what people
expect from a dnd to the text area from the other contact

Description:

This bug started up after applying patches and rebooting this morning
(10 May 2006). On starting Gnome, the following error appears in a
window: Internal error/failed to initialize HAL! Rebooting doesn't
help.

Taskbar etc takes very long to load up after this. All hardware
including USB and CD seems to be working fine, but opening Nautilus
takes ages. Other tty's don't come up very fast either.

[Bug 43747] Re: proxy configuration is confusing

2006-05-10 Thread Michael Vogt
Do you run dapper? And use gnome-terminal? The gnome-terminal in dapper will
automatically set the http_proxy environment. Apt-get uses this environment to
get the proxy configuration. If you use a different terminal or no X at all,
you have to configure it by different means (e.g. setting http_proxy by hand).
There is little we can do about this because apt-get runs as the root user and
it cant connect to the calling users gconf settings.

Cheers,
 Michael

[Bug 39964] System/Lock Screen doesn't work with xscreensaver.

System/Lock Screen no longer causes xscreensaver to lock the screen.
This is probably related to the use of gnome-screensaver by default now,
but if gnome-screensaver isn't running and xscreensaver is, the button

[Bug 13199] Re: Drag n' Drop directories from File-Roller is somewhat tricky

2006-05-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Switching to a new app to avoid a bug is not a good idea, especially
just before a new distribution version. We appreciate your interest for
that bug, but the way to help getting them fixed is to work on a patch.
We known that's an issue so no need to keep sending comment saying it
has to be fixed. If it's not fixed yet that's just because the few
people working on the Ubuntu desktop and upstream on that are too busy,
and a flood of comment will not make a difference on that

[Bug 43578] Re: monitor changes in library bug

2006-05-10 Thread jens_acamedia
thanks sebastian.

but i do not think it is a duplicate.

the bug you are referring to concerns audio-players. ie. devices which come up
as separate items.

i am talking about music which has been added manually to the library.
regardless of whether or not it resides on a usb-harddrive.

i think it would be good to add an option to NOT check manually added music
for changes

should i write to the rhythmbox dev list or can you forward this idea?

[Bug 19567] Re: Evolution Error: No provider available for protocol 'file' occurs when using old settings from evolution 1.2

2006-05-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Upstream closing as fixed with that comment:

from all accounts of this problem I've seen, it's because users have restored
older evolution backups, manually copying 1.x data overtop of the 2.x data or
they used a beta version that didn't yet have the migration code written.

Anyways, to the OP - you just need to go to your account settings and set your
Sent (and possibly Drafts) folders in the Defaults tab (hmmm, kind of a poor
name for a notebook tab with this info).

If filters are also broken you can Edit Filters in the ui and go through your
filters and make sure they all point to valid folders - if not, re-select the
folder the mail should be delivered to.

[Bug 43578] Re: monitor changes in library bug

2006-05-10 Thread jens_acamedia
thanks sebastian.

but i do not think it is a duplicate.

the bug you are referring to concerns audio-players. ie. devices which come up
as separate items.

i am talking about music which has been added manually to the library.
regardless of whether or not it resides on a usb-harddrive.

i think it would be good to add an option to NOT check manually added music
for changes

should i write to the rhythmbox dev list or can you forward this idea?

thanks

[Bug 43578] Re: monitor changes in library bug

2006-05-10 Thread jens_acamedia
well - the bug you refer to is about DVD etc. and providing them with unique
identifiers.

im talking about the TIMEit takes to scan the sources to the library.

ill close this bug anyway since its more a feature request. will email the
rhythmbox people.

thanks for your help

[Bug 43977] Re: desktop-file-utils -q always segfaults

2006-05-10 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Hi, sure, however I've tried to compile from source before as well. The
interesting part follows: no segfault with compilation, however it always
segfaults when installing deb package from dapper repository. Please note that
I've issued 'apt-get --reinstall isntall' as well to be sure not the binary
damaged (desktop-file-utils) or something. Now, I did what that wiki page says
and no more segfault after it! HOWEVER if I reinstall package from the
repository with 'apt-get --reinstall install desktop-file-utils' segfault
returns ...

I've also checked: it seems there is no segfault when executing
update-desktop-database without any option, however it does if I use -v or -q
but _NOT_ if -v and -q. Very strange ... I've also reinstalled any package
desktop-file-utils depends on but no success ...

With -v switch, the output is:

Search path is now: [/usr/local/share/applications, /usr/share/applications,
Segmentation fault

2006-05-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
thank you for taking that upstream, we are are few people to work on the
Ubuntu desktop at the moment and it's not easy to keep up with the flood
of bugs and cool ideas people have for it. Upstream is probably the
right place to discuss something like that!

[Bug 43918] Re: Missing menu titles in pt_BR without langpack

2006-05-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. The menu entries come from the
/usr/share/applications/*.desktop which have translations. The panel
menu titles come from the source code and are translated to the .mo
which is shipped with the language-package. I'm rejecting the bug since
that's not one, having program translated require to have the
corresponding language pack installed

of the theme you use? Could you try with the fglrx driver if you have
that issue too? That's likely to be a videodriver issue...

I can see a flicker (for nanoseconds) too. This is as things are. I don't see
this as a bug, but as necessary drawing of X or GTK or whatever.

Firefox is not in the background for me. Please try again with recent Dapper.
