i'd like to confirm this; this also happens here
randomly, the menulists seem to hide some of the items - so one have to
scroll to see them .. this happens even though there is enough space on
the screen to show the whole list of items
this has happened for at least the last week i believe

It happens when you update the system and probably also when you install
new programs that are added to the menus.

But after your rebootet the message appears again? or only after the next
update? If after the next update, could you please run the following commands
on a terminal:
$ killall update-notifier
$ update-notifier --debug-hooks 1
and send me the output printed on the terminal?

This happens when you update the system or install new programs which
are added to the menus. That may make it look unpredictable, since you
don't always use the menus after downloading updates.

the top has been took from the Human directory of the ubuntu-artwork-18
package, and the one below has been took from the tangerine directory

I can confirm this bug on Dapper with latest updates as of today.
The bug is only there with totem-xine, not with totem-gstreamer (just
double checked), so I guess it should be re-assigned.
I suspect it may have something to do with the default image shown by
Totem when no media file is loaded.
This would be nice and would help make the UI more intuitive.

I have the same problem.
gst-register-0.8 is working, but
GST_REGISTRY=/var/lib/gstreamer/0.8/registry.xml gst-compprep-0.8 is locking.
I tried and strace of this and it is locking here:
open(/usr/lib/libcdio.so.6, O_RDONLY) = 12
read(12, [EMAIL PROTECTED]..., 512) = 512
fstat64(12,
Seeing that it was blocking while trying to access the cd, I mounted a
cdrom and retried dpkg --configure -a. It worked this time.
Note: I had to reboot before I could mount my cdrom.

I can confirm and I'm also using en_US.UTF-8 and my time zone is
America/New_York (Eastern). When I run:
evolution calendar:///?startdate=$(date +%Y%m%dT%H%M%SZ
It opens the previous day in Evolution. Same goes for opening Evolution
from the calendar applet in the Gnome panel -- previous day.
