[Bug 49340] Forgets Fit Page Width option on each click on the index

2006-06-11 Thread Gaëtan de Menten
Public bug reported:

Whenever I navigate in a document using the index, the zoom is reset and
the fit page width option removed.

I don't know if it is a bug or if it was intentional (though I don't see
why users would want this feature) but I find it extremely annoying. I
would like to have the fit page width option always on...

[Bug 32823] Re: no dvd menu

2006-06-11 Thread Jeff Fortin
Sebastian, has this been committed yet? We're at gstreamer 0.10.6 now,
after the dapper release, and it still doesn't show menus or allow
moving through a movie's timeline. It works with totem-xine, but I find
it ugly to use totem-xine when everything else works with gstreamer. If
this is not into dapper yet, can I hope to see this as a special
package fix sometime since this is a LTS version? It would be a shame
having a 3 year supported desktop distro that cannot play DVDs with
gstreamer :)

[Bug 49341] Programming error when moving transparency slider of gnome-panel background from transparent to opaque.

2006-06-11 Thread Lars Schöning
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

When moving transparency slider of gnome-panel background from
transparent to opaque a set of programming errors comes up on my
machine.

Traceback (most recent call last):

TypeError: can only assign a GdkPixmap or None

[Bug 39129] Re: DoubleClicking Podcasts plays the first song in the queue

2006-06-11 Thread Martin Bergner
Upstream rejected the bug with the comment:

Activation of a track (or podcast episode, or whatever else) is not overridden
by the queue, but activation of a source is. I think the current behaviour is
correct. Activating a source is more or less saying play me something, which
seems to me to be a lower priority than playing the queued tracks.

So this is not a bug but a feature, rejecting thus, please argue with

[Bug 49354] Dragging files from an archive does not work if the user is to fast

2006-06-11 Thread Adam Lindberg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: file-roller

When opening an archive with File Roller and dragging files out of it
to, for example, the desktop does not work the first time if the user is
too fast.

If you drag the files over the desktop without dropping them, you see a
progress bar in File Roller showing the extraction progress. Dropping
the files before the background extraction is complete results in
nothing happening. If you drag the files a second time File Roller
starts extracting them _after_ they have been dropped, compared to the
first time when it extracts them during dragging (and stops abrubtly
when the user drops them prematurely, which is the bug).

Proposal:
* Make File Roller continue the extraction process initiated in the first drag
when the files are dropped. Alternatively use the behaviour from the second
drag, where files are extracted after the drop.

[Bug 45656] Re: Notification bubble shows sometimes wide, sometimes narrow

2006-06-11 Thread Ricardo Pérez López
After a deep investigation and many many experiments, my conclusion is
that the actual version (without my patch) seems to work well, with only
one exception: the bottom-right notification that appears the first in a
session shows misplaced (too down in the screen). However, subsequent
notifications appears correctly.

Therefore, it seems that the problem is not in the width or height
calculation, but in the Y position the first time the library needs to
show a notification.

The notifications that appears in the top of the screen (update-notifier
or rhythmbox) don't seem to have this problem.

I attach screenshots to illustrate the problem.

[Bug 12154] Re: Nautilus should have a superuser mode

2006-06-11 Thread sam tygier
adding contextual menu item seems like a work around. the item should
not show up on all files. if this is done at a deeper level it could be
done better. for example you don't need to be super user to open a
system config file, so you should only be asked for them when you try to
save it.

also this is not just for system admin tasks. a parent might need to
look through a childs home folder for example.

[Bug 49376] Cannot play video in Firefox plugin

2006-06-11 Thread Vladimír Lapáček
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I know that there already exist several bug reports against totem
-*firefox-plugin. However, I did not know where to put this one so I am
opening a new one. If you see that this is a duplicate of any existing
one, please tell me so.

Well, my problem is that I cannot play any video located at:
http://ceskatelevize.cz/vysilani
The above url is just a menu where you can select an actual stream. Neither
gstreamer nor xine totem plugin does not work, although each gives different
results. In the end the stream does not play.

If I try to copy out a stream url from the page source and play it with
stand-alone totem-* I get the same result. If I try to play it with
xine, it succeeds. I suspect that the problem can be in that the url
redirects the player to a new url where the stream actually resides. You
can see that by using wget on the initial stream url.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Vladimir

[Bug 48386] Re: Dictionary lookup applet is far too small

2006-06-11 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Moreover, most keystrokes, such as arrow navigation or page down, which
might be able to help this situation, are not accepted by the applet (it
doesn't take the focus?).

The window must be resizable, the lookup-word font smaller, less space
under the title, and a vastly better scrolling interface is needed.

The only way to use it right now is to try to highlight everything in
the window, and then paste it into another application to read it!

There also needs to be SOME way to make the window go away other than
mouse-clicking on the dictionary icon in the panel.

I'm using the latest Dapper. The problem exists regardless of whether the panel
is on a side edge or top/bottom.
I believe things were much better under breezy, but I can't remember exactly
how it worked.

[Bug 49348] List view in Nautilus does not allow dragging a selection by mouse

2006-06-11 Thread Adam Lindberg
Public bug reported:

When viewing files in Nautilus one can drag a rectangle around them to
mark certain files. This is not possible in the list view of Nautilus
even though there is usually a large white space in folders with few
files that can make a user believe that dragging with the mouse there
would produce the same rectangle as in icon view. I do it all the time
by habit, and it is very annoying.

Proposal:
* Make it possible to drag a rectangle in list view. The problem is that
starting to drag on a list item moves that item. Konqueror has solved this that
you have to drag on the item name itself to move, else a rectangle marquee is
started. Personally I find this quite efficient but may be annoying for less
experienced users...

[Bug 49413] menu calls smeg which doesn't exist anymore (alacarte)

2006-06-11 Thread Dominique Meeùs
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-menus

In my new Dapper installation in French, when I choose Applications/Outils
système/Éditeur de menu Gnome (menu editor, as you may guess even if you don't
speak French), I get an error message that smeg doesn't exist. Indeed, it is no
more to be found at all in the Dapper distribution but was replaced by
alacarte. Alacarte virtually provides smeg but not its name. (I did not upgrade
from Breezy, I did a new installation. But I DID keep my /home partition and
did mount it as the new /home in Dapper. Is this the reason?)
Having a menu error in the very Menu editor is annoying! Still, it is possible
to launch alacarte from a terminal to correct the menu by replacing the smeg
command by alacarte. Another way round would be to place a link to alacarte
named smeg in /usr/bin, I suppose.

[Bug 49416] Calculator's Clear Entry function is redundant (gcalctool)

2006-06-11 Thread Phil Housley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gcalctool

I'm feeling slightly apprehensive about reporting this, as it seems so
obvious yet doesn't seem to have been noticed. But then, I never
noticed it before either.

Clear Entry seems to perform exactly the same as Clear. gcalctool
doesn't perform partial calculations in any mode any more, so the
tooltip explanations don't help. Also, the explanation in the help file
is certainly wrong. Finally, Clear doesn't seem to affect any
registers or anything, so as far as I can tell, the two do exactly the
same thing: Clear the display.

Even assuming something is different at some level, the help file is
definitely wrong, as the example is impossible.

[Bug 49364] Re: message filters on IMAP don't work

2006-06-11 Thread Josh Burdick
Ah, i didn't realize that. When I enabled it, it didn't work at first,
but then after I restarted the program, it worked.

I'm tempted to argue that message filters should be on by default for
mailboxes besides On This Computer. These days, what proportion of
Evolution's target userbase is recieving mail in /var/spool/mail, as
opposed to via POP/IMAP/Exchange? I guess there's messages from cron
and such...

But I digress... Mostly, am glad it works, thank you for explaining the
problem, and sorry for the bogus bug report.
