Issue: When KDE apps are open (tested; Kopete, Kaffeine, Amarok) and
workspace is switched, KDE applications clamour for attention. That is,
their 'tab' in the panel flashes orange until I click it.
Do you have issues printing with any other programs or just this. I
have successfully printed it on a hp-PCS1215. If it happens on other
programs I would be tempted to say it was a problem with the printer
driver. If not then the issue may of been fixed as I am using Feisty.

I second this problem. I have an USB drive with an NTFS partition that I
have been unable to mount in Feisty. The attached patch against
hal-0.5.8.1 works for me.
Caveat: Only tested by patching

I'm still experiencing the same bug in edgy. The screen goes blank after
20 minutes while watching a fullscreen movie in totem-xine.
In gnome-power-manager, everything is set to Never and in gnome-
screen-saver, Activate screensaver when computer is idle is unticked

past couple of months, the quality of my internet connection (blame crappy ISP
here!) has decreased significantly

have a enable daap option in edit - plugins here..

The quality of my internet connection has decreased a lot in the recent
weeks, and often it takes quite a while (a few seconds up to a minute or
more !) to buffer. I noticed that the GUI is very often (might well be
always actually) COMPLETELY
I tried the same configuration. With a Kingston pendrive and had no
problem in a Edgy Eft LiveCD.
Did you use some other configuration?
I think the problem could see bad blocks on your Pendrive. Did you try
to reformat it?

The problem may be related to the fact that I use also Turkey keyboard
