Same problem here. when I attach usb cable, it mounts automatically all partitions I have in. (3) Just after this, when I try to unmount one of them something prevents me from unmounting it with error message. Go further, when I try to unmount, the icons disappear, I get the error message (Cannot unmount volume) and meantime icons reappear. You can remove your gconf folder in the home directory and then you will e able to use your'e account again. The only problem with this is that all of the settings are gone. I also now get an error message when trying to open theme manager. The error message is: Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager. I suggest emailing or dropping a suggestion with the developers of Rhythmbox directly. They code and build the packages that ubuntu just re-builds and aggregates into a distro. Just one thing. Just mounting and unmounting give me only this simple error message Cannot unmount volume. Once I copied files from usb disk and internal hd (I don't remember I did anything else) and when I unmounted each partition of usb hd I got this error message Cannot unmount volume an application is preventing the volume from being unmounted. but no processes were using disks. Feisty! I just spent 13 hours installing the upgrade to 7.04, hoping it would fix the Gnome-screensaver bug (106060). It didn't. My PC still froze as soon as I opened the Screensaver window, since Molecule was still selected. Is there a way to edit or trash the Gnome-screensaver-preferences file? If I had known this bug would carry through the upgrade, I would have re-installed 6.10 to clear the preferences file before doing the upgrade. I believe I can reproduce this in Debian 4.0 (and in Ubuntu 6.06). I didn't have to actually zap my X server; just closing the ekiga window with Alt+F4 is enough to leave the instance running in the background. When I send an image to print, I get either black square or negative black-grey printout. I get it for tif, png, gif images. Jpeg images print fine. This relates to any application which relies on GNOME printing. I get this bug with Evolution, gThumb, eog, and I don't get it from Firefox or OpenOffice. It affects both my actual printer (OKI B4100) and CUPS PDF virtual printer. Preview works fine. To confuse things further, I saved a PDF document as png image in GIMP, and then eog printed this png absolutely fine. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. [Bug 108110] Desktop Background Image doesn't refresh when calling gconftool
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf I've been using a cron job that wgets the latest Radar image for my area from weather.com and then calls gconftool to set my background to this image. The file name is always the same, and I have wget over-write the previous image each time it downloads a new one. The gconftool call doesn't actually change anything in the config, it just sets /desktop/gnome/background/picture_filename to the same filename. Up until 2007-04-18, this was working fine, and the image would always refresh after gconftool was called. But since then, it hasn't changed the background image. I've already checked, and wget is working, the image is current, but the one on the desktop is stale. The only thing that has really changed is that on 2007-04-19 the following packages were upgraded: libx11-dev, libx11-data, libx11-6. But I don't think that necessarily had anything to do with it since they were upgraded at 11am on that day, and gnome was still showing an image from 2007-04-18 on the desktop. I imagine it would have to be something that changed on 4/18, but I can't find anything.
