Re: [Bug 80856] Re: F-Spot as default for importing photos

2007-05-08 Thread Roshan Shariff
I also like F-spot better and think it is a better default, although
maybe the dependency on Mono makes it too big to fit on the single
 Live/Install CD.

F-spot is already included on the CD, since Edgy I think. Its utility
is diminished, however, because it is not the default app for
importing photos in Gnome. I don't see the point of it taking up space
on the CD if it isn't the default, since Ubuntu is supposed to include
only one best of breed program for each task.

[Bug 113308] In Nautilus XLS and MP3 file types are recognized as comic book archive

2007-05-08 Thread Lutz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I have some usual MP3 and XLS files which are displayed in nautilus as
comic book archive. It appears in the type section of a file list in
Nautilus. Double click on the files does it not open but Nautilus shows
me instead a warning message that the file extension (XLS resp. MP3) and
file content (comic book archive) differ which might be a security
threat. The files are ok and open properly directly from applications.
What is comic book archive?!

[Bug 34112] Re: gnome programs don't respect ~/.cups/lpoptions

2007-05-08 Thread Alexander Papaspyrou
I can confirm this, using Feisty with evince-0.8.1 with a HP LaserJet
4050. All other apps do duplex perfectly, just evince doesn't.

However, this seems to be a gnome-cups-admin issue. Although I setup my
printer settings with the GNOME printer setup tool, none of the settings
have been propagated to CUPS correctly. After setting things up via the
CUPS web frontend, evince recognizes everything in the correct way and
seems to work.

This bug is still present in Feisty. This bug is almost 2 years old! I
know that if its an alsa bug there is only so much we can do. But even
if you have to pay them this bug needs to be fixed. It is somewhat of a
show-stopper. If someone gets a phone call or enters an official are

[Bug 111939] Re: Not possible to alt-tab during a drag-and-drop operation

2007-05-08 Thread agro1986
Confirmed on Ubuntu 7.04 final (Gnome)

Procedure:
1) Open 2 windows of Nautilus
2) Initiate 'drag and drop' in one window (click-hold an item (e.g., file),
move the mouse)
3) Press alt+tab

Result: The alt+tab won't work

The usefulness of alt+tab while doing DnD is that it is a lot faster
than binging the intended window by hovering its entry on the task bar.

[Bug 113308] Re: In Nautilus XLS and MP3 file types are recognized as comic book archive

2007-05-08 Thread Christian Reis
This is intriguing. We need more information to understand better what
is causing this to happen on your system.

First, does this occur with all and every MP3 and XLS file on your
system?

Second, does it occur with other files?

Third, what does the output of the 'file' command tell you when run on
one of these files? For instance, if the file was named star.xls, you
would run:

   file star.xls

and tell me what the output is.

Finally, what version of Ubuntu are you using?

[Bug 113399] evolution gpg

2007-05-08 Thread fheible
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Problem:
Evolution an GPG seems to be working correctly on my desktop. I can send and
receive crypted or signed mail (GPG functionnality).

However, if somebody answers to my initial crypted mail with a crypted
answer (verified since Thunderbird only), Evolution doesn't try to
decrypt the mail at all. The crypted content is displayed as is.

I must precise that this happens only with answers: if the same person
sends me a crypted email with Thunderbird/Enigmail/GPG, Evolution
decrypts it properly.

For the moment, it is possible to copy the mail and paste it in a text
file to get it decrypted in the command line, but it's not the way I
except Evolution to manage crypted mails in the future.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Send a GPG crypted mail to anyone using Thunderbird/Enigmail/GPG.
2. Ask him to answer your mail and to crypt and sign the answer.
3. Receive the mail: although you do have the correct GPG key, and although any
crypted mail is correctly read, crypted answers are not.

Actual results:
Evolution displays the crypted mail as is (unreadable).

Expected results:
Evolution should decrypt an crypted answer, as it does for any initial crypted
mail.

Does this happen every time?
Yes: it's systematic.

[Bug 113407] The program 'gimp-remote' received an X Window System error

2007-05-08 Thread Cyril Adrian
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gimp

Hi,

release is a Feisty.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gimp-remote http://www.gimp.org/images/wilber_the_gimp.png
The program 'gimp-remote' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 94 error_code 5 request_code 20 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

I tried with --sync, almost same result:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gimp-remote --sync
http://www.gimp.org/images/wilber_the_gimp.png
The program 'gimp-remote' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 118 error_code 5 request_code 20 minor_code 0)

It is quite grave because I cannot start Gimp from Nautilus. To my
girlfriend it makes our computer totally useless.

What can I do? The current workaround is to directly call gimp but I'm
not comfortable with opening as many gimps as my girlfriend can load
pictures, and that's quite a lot ;-)

Thanks for your help,

Cyril

[Bug 113406] gnome-background-properties crashes when tiling an image

2007-05-08 Thread Lasse Havelund
Public bug reported:

Having attempted to change my theme completely (emerald, GTK+, gnome-
panel background), I decided I needed to change my wallpaper. I loaded a
tile-able wallpaper the height of my screen and set it. Now, it sets it
fine, but it refuses to tile it. If I attempt to do so, it crashes, and
I receive this output:

(gnome-background-properties:7249): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **:
gdk_pixbuf_composite: assertion `src != NULL' failed

It's recursive, and it keeps echo'ing it into my terminal (I run it with
gnome-background-properties).

Any way thank you for your interest :)

[Bug 113266] Re: metacity doesn't launch

2007-05-08 Thread Joachim Noreiko
1. Just upgraded edgy-feisty
2. No
3. Borders appear on all windows and everything seems to go back to normal. I
get a few warning messages about my custom theme, like:
Clearlooks configuration option menuitemstyle is not supported and will be
ignored.

[Bug 85029] Re: Deskbar applet crashes at startup since I installed libdeskbar-tracker

2007-05-08 Thread Apreche
I don't have this problem in Gnome under Feisty, but I do have the
problem in Xfce under Feisty. I've uninstalled libdeskbar-tracker. I've
also killed trackerd, and tried to make sure it does not start
automatically. This, of course, allows deskbar to start without
crashing. However, trackerd is still running when I login to Xfce! I
can't figure out what is starting it.

[Bug 62192] Re: evolution ships with spam filtering completely mangled

2007-05-08 Thread jasse
This thread on the forums has a thing or two to say about this problem
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=99603
For me just simply installing spamd pretty much did the trick. Or at least
Evolution now claims to be learning junk when I go and mark messages as junk.
I still get the warning about bogofilter on Evolution startup, but it seems to
have no effect on anything. And I don't have bogofilter installed by the way.

2007-05-08 Thread Aanjhan
Hi. Thanks for reporting. Request you to provide more information as to what
application you tried to add to panel etc. Just right clicking and selecting
add to panel works here. Provind more details would enable us to fix the issue.
Thanks once again.
