I can confirm this bug. I get exactly the same symptoms described in the second comment. About ftp urls : gnome-open freezes on them (does'nt do anything but does'nt terminate either), evolution freezes when clicking on an ftp:// links in an email, nautilus can't open ftp folders anymore, etc.

I added a window switcher to the panel. Once I did this, I could scroll though a list of minimized programs and restore the selected program to full size. This is different than having minimized buttons, but I think it is OK. I have since upgraded my system to AMD64x2 processor and Ubuntu AMD64.
