[Bug 120343] [gutsy]gnome-session-properties crashes trying to enable beagle search tool
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-session Well, I just installed beagle (used to use tracker, but tracker was not finding all my files [eg, wanted to find some files with the title Stone Temple Pilots in the actual file name, searching for Stone found nothing, but searching for Pilots found it, possible separate bug, idk]) and when i drop down from places to search, it still brings up the old gnome-search (and yes, the beagle daemon is running) so I checked out Sessions and sure enough beagle-search --icon (aka beagle search tool) is not enabled. So I click the checkbox to enable it and it crashes. beagle-search --icon works on it's own, just won't start with gnome-session-properties. so I followed this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and I will attach the output. First off, is that a bug with tracker (if so I will report it), second, is not having the beagle search tool enabled in sessions the reason for the search for files under places not bringing up the new beagle-search and instead the old gnome-search? Hope this helps. [Bug 120248] Re: Need update to Gnome 2.18.2
It already happened that a new nautilus stable version was crashing and that a new tarball had to be rolled, the GNOME guys have no procedure to test regressions before uploading a new version, they just roll a new tarball. There is also no strong freeze in effect after .0 so they can made non trivial changes if they want and only few people are running stable CVS to test. We do usually ship with .1 which means that most of annoying bugs of .0 are fixed, .2 only contains a limited set of those since most upstream have switched to the new unstable serie then -- Need update to Gnome 2.18.2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120248 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-desktop in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 27086] Re: Evolution cannot send email using encrypted SMTP server
Hal Eisen said on 2006-02-20: (permalink) I have solved this problem myself. The issue was that Evolution was not sending an FQDN as the argument to the HELO directive during the SMTP conversation. When I edited /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts then I was able to send email just fine. Hi, Hal I have encountered the smtp problem because my isp smtp server has some kind of anti-spam rule that will reject the private network IP address like 192.168.0.xx. and we use the NAT to goto the smtp. so i think i should let the HELO command use FWDN as the parameter not the IP. could you kindly tell me how did you modified your /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts file? -- Evolution cannot send email using encrypted SMTP server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27086 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I think it might be worth adding something I have noticed: the bug is more of a problem for shares where there are a large number of files/directories present. I am generally able to boot successfully if I only attach to small shares (those with few files/folders in the root) but experience the hanging issue when the shares are large, with a large number of files/folders in the root of the share. If you can't start Evolution at all then you may have a slightly different bug to me. I could always start it but sometimes when I clicked new message it would crash. I had the same problem, when i was in feisty, I recently moved my laptop to gutsy and the issue as far as i can see is gone, but i don't recommend gutsy as it has bugs and may have more different issues. But for feisty what i did was: the crash happens on html e-mails. If you can get in evolution, and it crashes after only a second into it. reload it again but for this one second try to change your folder from inbox to anything else My always crashed again, but then i reloaded evolution again and went into my preferences and unchecked my html settings so that they were off. [Bug 118593] Re: mouse preferences acceleration not saving
I've had this issue as well for a while. I've been overriding gnome- control-center with 'xset m default'. Mouse speed is normal at gdm. When I log in, it immediately goes to a crawl. 'xset q | grep accel' reports acceleration: 3/10 threshold: 0. If I remove .gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/%gconf.xml and log out, the problem does not re-occur on next log in until I open the mouse applet again. When I first open the mouse applet the slider is in the middle. If I move it, it goes to the left and my mouse speed is back to 3/10. When running gnome-control-panel in the foreground of a shell, the mouse applet reports: (gnome-mouse-properties:8550): capplet-common-WARNING **: Unable to find a default value for key for /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/motion_acceleration. I'll assume it is an integer, but that may break things. [Bug 119522] Re: GIMP Could not load PNG defaults
I thinkI have a related problem: OpenOffice can't save Documents wit (big?) png images anymore and with Krita it's the same problem. OOo says, that saving subdocument content.xml has failed. I didn't have this problem directly after adding the picture (I've attached it), but after a few times saving. In Krita the problem was there after opening the picture the first time and trying to save it as an new png. It only says, that saving failed but no more exact error. Maybe this problem is related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/118089 because the picture http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Polykondensation_Phenoplast_2.png is shown correctyl but if you click on it to see a high resoluted version the picture is shown in negative colours in Konqueror and in Gwenview. Re: [Bug 116870] Re: [gutsy] GSlice: g_thread_init() Error messages
Sebastian, I am very proud to be a member of a Ubuntu community and one of thousands of testers and I am fully aware of alpha state of Gutsy. I want to help to beGutsy as excellent as possible to be proud of it at recommending to friends, so I report two similiar bugs to compiz. The result of that bugs (as far as I am able to underestand) is that compiz (and according to this bug comments many other applications) isn't working. :( So for that reason I see reporting this on every thoughable applications is pointless and waste of time. -- [gutsy] GSlice: g_thread_init() Error messages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You have been subscribed to a public bug: Problem only occurs when running two X Screens. The desktop panels will very frequently reset and redraw themselves whenever I close a window. Evolution opens in offline mode with an internet connection established through ppp for a GSM 3rd generation modem (mobile internet). This is relevant for laptops with GSM 3G mobile intenet, that are becoming common here in Sweden and probably also elsewhere in Europe.
