[Bug 120343] [gutsy]gnome-session-properties crashes trying to enable beagle search tool

2007-06-14 Thread Thomas Wolfe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Well, I just installed beagle (used to use tracker, but tracker was not finding
all my files [eg, wanted to find some files with the title Stone Temple Pilots
in the actual file name, searching for Stone found nothing, but searching for
Pilots found it, possible separate bug, idk]) and when i drop down from places
to search, it still brings up the old gnome-search (and yes, the beagle daemon
is running) so I checked out Sessions and sure enough beagle-search --icon (aka
beagle search tool) is not enabled. So I click the checkbox to enable it and
it crashes. beagle-search --icon works on it's own, just won't start with
gnome-session-properties.
so I followed this https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash
and I will attach the output.
First off, is that a bug with tracker (if so I will report it), second, is not
having the beagle search tool enabled in sessions the reason for the search
for files under places not bringing up the new beagle-search and instead the
old gnome-search?
Hope this helps. Cheers

[Bug 120248] Re: Need update to Gnome 2.18.2

2007-06-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
It already happened that a new nautilus stable version was crashing and
that a new tarball had to be rolled, the GNOME guys have no procedure to
test regressions before uploading a new version, they just roll a new
tarball. There is also no strong freeze in effect after .0 so they can
made non trivial changes if they want and only few people are running
stable CVS to test. We do usually ship with .1 which means that most of
annoying bugs of .0 are fixed, .2 only contains a limited set of those
since most upstream have switched to the new unstable serie then

G'day Sebastien,
I'm pretty sure I did not do an accidental drag and drop but may have
hit a shortcut key if one exists. It is more likely to be a gliche which
ocurred prior to the power shutdown of my computer. Once both power and
the menu bar were restored, no further problem has recurred. Both appear
stable. Sorry to have bothered you.
Don.

[Bug 120214] Re: Faulty reporting of free space with Sony Ericsson z710

2007-06-14 Thread James Henstridge
Matthias: in the previous bug, you mentioned that your previous phone (a
Sony Ericsson K610) worked correctly with the existing code.

Do you still have access to this phone? If so, would you mind running a
similar set of obexftp commands on it and attaching the output? I want
to collect the output of a variety of phones as part of a test suite so
that I can make sure that the folder-listing and capability parsing code
doesn't regress.

[Bug 27086] Re: Evolution cannot send email using encrypted SMTP server

2007-06-14 Thread stevegy

Hal Eisen said on 2006-02-20: (permalink)

I have solved this problem myself. The issue was that Evolution was not
sending an FQDN as the argument to the HELO directive during the SMTP
conversation. When I edited /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts then I was able
to send email just fine.

Hi, Hal
I have encountered the smtp problem because my isp smtp server has some kind of
anti-spam rule that will reject the private network IP address like
192.168.0.xx. and we use the NAT to goto the smtp. so i think i should let the
HELO command use FWDN as the parameter not the IP. could you kindly tell me how
did you modified your /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts file?

[Bug 44874] Re: auto smbfs mount in /etc/fstab causes hald hang at boot

2007-06-14 Thread karfus
I think it might be worth adding something I have noticed: the bug is
more of a problem for shares where there are a large number of
files/directories present.

I am generally able to boot successfully if I only attach to small
shares (those with few files/folders in the root) but experience the
hanging issue when the shares are large, with a large number of
files/folders in the root of the share.

Hope this helps any developer with the time to look at this; it's
probably a fairly minor timing issue.

[Bug 120392] CAnnot delete Calendars in Evolution 2.10

2007-06-14 Thread Littleiffel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu Feisty with Evolution 2.10.1. I upgraded from Ubuntu
6.10 some months ago. I noticed that I cannot remove/delete calendars in
Evolution. I created 4 different local calendars, now I don't need them
so I want to delete them. However, when I right-click the calendar item
in the list and select DELETE, and confirm my intention, nothing seems
to happen.

I launched evolution from the terminal, but there is no output, when I
try to delete a calendar. I know that this are not too much
informations, but I can give some if someone tells me what exactly you
need.

Re: [Bug 104178] Re: Magnatune plugin does not use OGG format

2007-06-14 Thread Munchkinguy
While that may be a solution to another bigger problem, I think the solution
here is to change the plugin to use the OGG streams. What OGG streams, you
ask? The following is from an email sent to me by Magnatune's John Buckman:

I am moving to new machines, and could certainly provide OGG streams. Let
me put that on my todo and it'll show up in the XML feed as an alternative
 file to get.

2007-06-14 Thread Jeremy Murphy
If you can't start Evolution at all then you may have a slightly
different bug to me. I could always start it but sometimes when I
clicked new message it would crash. I mostly solved my crash (it
only crashes very occasionally now) by manually compiling and
installing the latest version of gtkhtml (I think). Email me again
if you want specifics. Cheers.

[Bug 85159] Re: evolution crashed with SIGSEGV in html_object_get_left_margin()

2007-06-14 Thread siucdude
I had the same problem, when i was in feisty, I recently moved my laptop
to gutsy and the issue as far as i can see is gone, but i don't
recommend gutsy as it has bugs and may have more different issues.

But for feisty what i did was:
the crash happens on html e-mails.
If you can get in evolution, and it crashes after only a second into it. reload
it again but for this one second try to change your folder from inbox to
anything else
My always crashed again, but then i reloaded evolution again and went into my
preferences and unchecked my html settings so that they were off.

After that I was able to use evolution but no html. I always crashed on
some emails.

Anyways I hope you understand my quick fix. let me know

[Bug 118593] Re: mouse preferences acceleration not saving

2007-06-14 Thread Bryan McLellan
I've had this issue as well for a while. I've been overriding gnome-
control-center with 'xset m default'.

Mouse speed is normal at gdm. When I log in, it immediately goes to a
crawl. 'xset q | grep accel' reports acceleration: 3/10 threshold: 0.

If I remove .gconf/desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/%gconf.xml and log
out, the problem does not re-occur on next log in until I open the mouse
applet again. When I first open the mouse applet the slider is in the
middle. If I move it, it goes to the left and my mouse speed is back to
3/10. When running gnome-control-panel in the foreground of a shell, the
mouse applet reports:

(gnome-mouse-properties:8550): capplet-common-WARNING **: Unable to find a
default value for key for /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/motion_acceleration.
I'll assume it is an integer, but that may break things.

[Bug 33762] Re: Appletouch trackpad unbearably slow

2007-06-14 Thread Tim Hull
OK - I've managed to fix this for all OSs, and in all cases.

Make the following changes to the default Xorg.conf:

1. Change

Option SendCoreEvents true

in the Synaptics section to

Option CorePointer

2. Change

InputDevice Configured Mouse

at the end of the file to

InputDevice Configured Mouse SendCoreEvents

3. Move

InputDevice Synaptics Touchpad

to before the Configured Mouse Line

4. Restart X

After doing so, you should be able to adjust pointer acceleration as you
wish.

[Bug 82321] Re: [feisty] nautilus-cd-burner does not umount device and fails to erase automounted cdrw

2007-06-14 Thread tf
Since I have upgraded to Feisty (from Edgy; ThinkPad t41p) *none* of the
drives other than the hard-drive work as they should (internal CDWriter,
external DVDWriter, usb hardisk, memory stick, multicard reade). I can
mount all of these drives by hand as root, but they will not automount
(yes, I have the checkboxes in preferences checked), and none of GNOME
tools like Serpentine or Nautilus writer work (generally complaining
that ther is no media in the drive).

(A quick googling on Feisty and peripherals shows that there are loads
of people for whom various card readers and CD/DVD device do not work; I
really do not understand how such a major issue can slip by quality
control, and just about had it with Ubuntu, as every single upgrade
brings with it major breakage.)

[Bug 119522] Re: GIMP Could not load PNG defaults

2007-06-14 Thread FriedChicken
I thinkI have a related problem:
OpenOffice can't save Documents wit (big?) png images anymore and with Krita
it's the same problem. OOo says, that saving subdocument content.xml has
failed. I didn't have this problem directly after adding the picture (I've
attached it), but after a few times saving.
In Krita the problem was there after opening the picture the first time and
trying to save it as an new png. It only says, that saving failed but no more
exact error.

Maybe this problem is related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/118089 because the picture
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Polykondensation_Phenoplast_2.png is
shown correctyl but if you click on it to see a high resoluted version
the picture is shown in negative colours in Konqueror and in Gwenview.
Firefox shows both pictures how they should be.

Sounds to be a fuzzy problem but I've got a hint: libmagick seems to be
used by a lot of applications, but - as far as I know - not by firefox
and it was updatet some time ago.

Sebastian, I am very proud to be a member of a Ubuntu community and

[Bug 82321] Re: [feisty] nautilus-cd-burner does not umount device and fails to erase automounted cdrw

2007-06-14 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
An strace revealed this:

access(/usr/bin/pumount, X_OK)= -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
access(/bin/pumount, X_OK)= -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
access(/sbin/umount, X_OK)= -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
access(/bin/umount, X_OK) = 0

No attempt is made to use gnome-umount, which has replaced pumount.
n-c-b must be updated to use gnome-umount.

I personally think this should have more than a Low priority because
there is no easy workaround since nautilus doesn't offer unmount, but
only eject on cd drives.

[Bug 120473] Re: Gnome panels frequently reset

2007-06-14 Thread Stephan Rose
Just thought I would add that this is happening under Gutsy since my
report doesn't show on the Gutsy list for some odd reason.

[Bug 82321] Re: [feisty] nautilus-cd-burner does not umount device and fails to erase automounted cdrw

2007-06-14 Thread Andrew Jorgensen
Looking a little closer into the source code it appears that n-c-b is
being compiled without gnome-mount support. Something is wrong in the
autotools stuff such that it doesn't find gnome-mount and refuses to
enable it.

[Bug 67188] Re: Error activating XKB configuration. - Requires manual xorg.conf editing

2007-06-14 Thread Bryce Harrington
Christer, thanks for the research into this. Yes, it does sort of sound
like maybe gnome-keyboard-properties is doing something improper. I've
added control-center to this bug. If someone can confirm that it's
being done by that tool, then it can be handled there.

[Bug 85010] Re: Opens in offline mode

2007-06-14 Thread Antonio Macchi III
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 82335 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/82335

I confirm this bug .

Evolution opens in offline mode with an internet connection established
through ppp for a GSM 3rd generation modem (mobile internet).

This can be very SERIOUS FOR BUSINESS USERS because it prevents email
from working as expected. This is relevant for laptops with GSM 3G
mobile intenet, that are becoming common here in Sweden and probably
also elsewhere in Europe. NOT BEING ABLE TO SEND EMAIL IS INDEED VERY
BAD, so the importance level should be increased.

This does not happen through direct cable nor Wi-Fi wireless connections.
(perhaps I should be reporting this on the other bug)

[Bug 120487] save in folder shows next item in combobox after selection

2007-06-14 Thread Juan Pablo Salazar Bertín
Public bug reported:

To reproduce:

1. Open some program that uses the gtk save as... dialogs (gimp, firefox,
gedit, etc.)
2. Do what you have to do to open the save as dialog (usually File - Save
as...).
3. In the Save in folder combobox, choose something different than what's
selected. The item shown will be the next in the list than what you choose.
4. However, if you save the file, it will be saved in the folder that you
choose, not the folder shown.
