[Bug 125429] Re: package evolution failed to install/upgrade:

2007-07-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
looks like you used so autopackage that broke your system. Can you run
dpkg -S /usr/share/icons/hicolor/autopackage-installer.png? Does
moving autopackage-installer.png somewhere else fix the issue?

[Bug 127944] Re: [gutsy]Open Office applications don't start

2007-07-27 Thread david.barbion

Hello,

When just running soffice from a console, OpenOffice is able to open its
main window, without any type of document (ie: you have to do new).
I'm able to go to tools-options menu, and then soffice freezes on some
screen options like fonts appearance... others works as it should.
So it could a gtk+font problem...

[Bug 128690] Re: Disable automatic resizing by default

2007-07-27 Thread Martin
Well... it's not about keeping everybody happy.

Moving controls around in a, to the user, seemingly random order just
because someone who knows about video resolution complains that high
resolution videos will be played in a very small window... that's just
silly.

Having the initial window size depend on the video resolution...
maybe... I guess that's a compromise that might keep everybody happy.

I always reduce the font resolution (dots per inch) from 96 to 80, because I
find the default size way too big.
In the new versions of Firefox and Thunderbird (today's updates), the font
size is much smaller than in the rest of the system.
When i switch back to 96 dpi, everything seems normal. So the fonts of FF /

[Bug 128690] Disable automatic resizing by default

2007-07-27 Thread Martin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

What's the rationale for having automatic resizing enabled by default? I
find it quite disruptive having the window jump around like that. My
guess is that most users feel that way too. I don't know, moving
controls and elements around without user initiation... is bad in
general... I guess... most of the time...

Also, Totem upstream doesn't do it. Fixing this would decrease the diff
against upstream. :)

[Bug 125179] Re: when vino is running for several hours, performance degrades, making xorg to eat up cpu usage

2007-07-27 Thread SFS
My wife connects to Feisty from Windows XP using VNC.

During the VNC session and after disconnecting, my PC is slow and XORG
CPU utilization is very high. vino-server shows ~4.4MB of memory usage
when she is connected and disconnected and it must be ended to return to
normal operation. After ending vino-server, it's memory goes down to
~940KB.

This does not appear to be caused by entering the wrong password. It
appears to occur every time VNC is used. Using the new utility that
shows others are connected to disconnect, does not lower the CPU or the
vino-server memory size of 4.4MB.

Please give me a detailed explanation of how to trace the issue for you.

[Bug 126042] Re: Crossfade backend makes choppy sound.

In fact might not be the same problem. Is that specific to AAC? What do
you call choppy? Does it happen when you use or don't use crossfading?

[Bug 25827] Re: Thumbnails for Openoffice.org documents

2007-07-27 Thread Jop...\(Jonas F. Jensen\).
Try the updated script from
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=76566, don't remember exactly
which page, but I've attached a script that were posted on that thread.

 - It doesn't have transparent background on thumbnails
 - It attaches a small icon to help identify whether it's a spreadsheet, word
document, presentation, etc...

I hope someone will add this for a future version of Ubuntu, other
distros like SuSE have had for a long time.

[Bug 128734] panel applets are in different places when i login

2007-07-27 Thread Tom Badran
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Basically, since upgrading to gutsy, my gnome applets move aroudn on
login. i.e often the clock and notification applets will swap position,
or the trash and window list.

I have a dual screen setup, with the gnome panels on the first screen.

Oddly, i can change resolution frequently and the order is maintained,
its purely when i log in, and seems to only afffect applets that are
alligned to the right of a panel.
