On my system, it takes anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds for the panel
tooltips to go away. This means that the Desktop can be blocked for 10
seconds.
I just checked with the tooltips from within Firefox (e.g. back icon),
and they disappear immediately.
Note that I have switched off Desktop Effects,
those patches were made against SVN sources. Should apply cleanly on
stock 2.19.6.
Not posted upstream as they already have the libxpcomglue detection code
so it's ubuntu's fault for not doing the proper thing. Well, I guess ;)

I know how to use the bug system. Looking at ./configure in more depth,
the about-me capplet is not enabled by default. I need to do:
./configure --enable-aboutme. After that it builds fine (the non-
ubuntu/debian way). Sorta odd that about-me is not enabled by default,

I confirm this on my Lenovo T60p. However, this bug is not related to
the applet but it is an acpi bug. In fact, there is no way I can change
the frequency even using cpufreq-set or cpufreq-selector.

I have a folder on one hdd with 3 files in it. I right-click it and
select 'cut'. Afterwards I open folder on another hdd, right-click and

Fwiw, bulletproof-x is just a failsafe mode for X, and wouldn't have any
bearing on this issue.

latest development version of evolution (using gutsy), had the bug.

It has improved a lot (gstreamer version).
Only remaining issues is a little lag in the volume control, and the
seek bar which produces glitches because it keeps playing the music
WHILE the seek bar is being operated, instead of waiting for user to
release the mouse button,

I wouldn't call it only cosmetic. As it stands, on my system, the date
is unreadable. It may seem like a small thing, but I think checking the
date and time is a very very basic thing one does all the time. It
speaks to the elemental usability of the system. This is not just a cool
3D effect or

I'm not sure, I'm using Feisty now and I have a volume control in Totem,
however now in Kubuntu my mute button doesn't work and I have no volume
control in Kaffiene. So I guess I traded problems from Gnome to KDE. The
volume control on my keyboard works fine but the mute button on my
keyboard
Ekiga now works as it did originally. I don't know which update
corrected the mistake. I didn't know the proper way to update this bug
status.

There's more to it than that actually. Rhythmbox will physically put
the files on the iPod, but will not update the DB, and without that you
can't play the files on the iPod itself on-the-go until that is fixed.
(at least this is true on my new nano that I just started using)

Oddly enough it was a hardware issue involving my motherboard. I tried to
install windows with the same problem. Some odd error caused the system to
go into hibernate over and over again. Amazingly you could still operate
within Ubuntu if you can get past the annoying error messages, you can't fix
Gutsy. You’re right, this appears to have been fixed since my report;
closing.
