I can control display brightness using the keyboard but the settings in
Power Manager preferences, seem to be ignored. For example, when I
unplug the AC power, the screen dims, but when I plug it back in again,

This seems to be related to Xrandr failing.
Deleting /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0/xrandr.gnome-settings-plugin makes
the crash go away (at the cost of not being able to set the screen resolution
from Gnome). Not sure if this is caused by xserver-xgl or the new proprietary

I have this problem with 7.10, desktop effecta and a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.

yes, the problems occurs for me using the ati fglrx driver as well.
but after uninstalling xserver-xgl everything works fine.

Every time I print a document, I need to change the paper size in the
page setup dialog. I use A4 paper, but by default it use US letter
paper. Ideally, I shouldn't even have to set this manually, and that

but I don't think it's an evince bug since I observe the same problem
with Adobe Reader.
Acrobat reader (via Medibuntu) works for me, Evince doesn't.

I have a similar error when I Copy DVD or Cd, I'm use nautilus,
genomebaker, k3b and Nero. Only burn a little percent and close the
disk. My system Intel centrino 1.6 Ghz, 160 G HD, 2G in ram memory.

I had rebooted as I upgraded yesterday and I shut down last night
however I hadn't rebooted since I installed todays updates (It ran a
'partial upgrade' when i booted up this morning). I've just tried
rebooting now and sure enough i now have the full database of locations.
Not sure what happened
Further investigation reveals that the person sending the files to me
somehow managed to send me 5 copies of the same doc file. The pdf turned
out to also be a word doc file. So the bug is a red-herring.
If anything out of this could be called as a bug, it would be that
evince was willing to
