In Intrepid, I can turn off the beep that ocurrs in Firefox, Eclipse, etc. by

Thanks for the answer, but I just solved the problem: Apparently there
was some problem with the nautilus-gconf-settings of the former (pre-
Intrepid) nautilus-version.
That made nautilus not doing these thumbnails, and it also prevented it
from auto-mounting usb- and flash-media.

I get this too, all the time, since I upgraded to intrepid on Friday. At
times, a folder might display negative message counts (my Unread mail
(local) folder is showing -7 messages right now), and might display
several new mails in the folder list, when in fact there are no new
