I had this same problem but it looks like the Commands plugin in CompizConfig Settings Manager (ccsm) was 1. responsible for activating those settings and 2. disabled by default in Jaunty. Enabling that plugin fixed things for me. Eli -- metacity keybindings for global commands don't work in

I had a look at Edit-Keyboard shortcuts in Gnome Terminal and noticed that the paste key was bound to Super+e. This was the problem. When I changed it to Ctrl+Shift+E, the e key worked fine again. Changing it to Super+e broke it once again. Look like a genuine bug in Gnome Terminal. -- Gnome
