I'm still not 100% sure if the screen saver is the problem. I think
heat *may* be a contributing factor. I cleaned the fins of the CPU
cooler (small amount of dust) and applied a new coating of heat paste.
I also cut back on the BOINC CPU usage. This seems to have helped, but

i think so, i still have the problem.
the problem is that i am unable to get into Ubuntu 9.10 running on
Gnome. it starts up till i see the desktop being formed, it blinks,
turns black and returns to the login screen. running now xcfe to be able

No, Nautilus makes the same nonsense like the applet...
It shows two CDs, one with the data and one with the audio files (with
multimedia CD).
With an 'normal' audio CD is only one drive mounted.

Nautilus file browser toolbar is complicated, redundant, and ugly
