[Bug 464353] [NEW] The floppy drive will not mount, or see the media it worked fine under 9.04

2009-10-30 Thread John
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

The floppy is showing in etc fstab and in modules but it won't mount. I did
find an old line of code
sudo mkdir /media/floppy
sudo mount /dev/fd0 /media/floppy -t vfat -o umask=000 that will open the
floppy but it shows the floppy icon diferently as something else and it only
works once, so in a sense it acts like there are two. As the real floppy icon
says no media.
somehow the hardware, floppy, is not detected thus it cannot be mounted, even
though the light comes on when it tries.
A long time ago and earlier version did this, but then after an update it went
away
I know some think people don't use floppys but MILLIONS still do.
Other than that all these other bugs listed DON'T appy every thing else works
fine. It could be maybe the IDE and Floppy ???
Hmm I don;t know, but it is a little disappointing but in time I am sure you
will solve it.
Thanks, apart from that every thing else works fine.

[Bug 464356] [NEW] Gnome Power Manager uses 100% CPU

2009-10-30 Thread Dave Harton
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Hi,

I am running Ubuntu Karmic on an Inspiron 1300, and am having problems
with gnome power manager using up to 100% CPU and of course everything
else slows to a crawl...

I am using an OEM battery and an HP charger but still with identical
ratings. It did it with the original battery too, but that was down to
40% capacity.

I first had the problem in Jaunty but I thought Hal was to blame. As Hal
isn't used for this function in Karmic I decided to upgrade to the Beta,
but it is having problems and driving me nuts! Under Top I have seen
gnome power manager using 86% CPU by itself.

I killed the gnome power manager process and ran gnome-power-manager - -
verbose and piped the output to the text file attached. In terminal it
gave this output over and over again: (gnome-power-manager:17916): GLib-
GObject-WARNING **: value nan of type `gdouble' is invalid or out of
range for property `percentage' of type `gdouble'

Hope this is enough info and that you can help me.

Cheers,
Dave

[Bug 452867] Re: Evolution cannot save attachments

2009-10-30 Thread Sebo
[description]
Evolution is hanging when saving or opening attachment and only part of
attachment is saved. Sometimes after that it has to be killed together with
data-server to be able to run it again.

During the hang Evolution is taking 100% of CPU.

[reproducible]
10-30%

[steps to reproduce]
1. open mail with attachment(s)
2. double click on attachment (or click save button)
3. evolution hangs

[expected]
Attachment is opened (or saved)

[environment]
karmic
evolution 2.28.1-0ubuntu1
IMAP account with quite big inbox (10k mails)

NC10 is a different error. It can be fixed by upgrading the system bios.

2009-10-30 Thread Eros Zanchetta
Same here on my fresh Karmic installation (x86_64), using a Seagate
Barracuda ST31500341AS. I also tried the 32 bit version of Karmic and
got the the same results.

I ran SeaTools for Windows' Long Generic test' to confirm that the drive
was OK and it passed the test (see attached log file) so I guess it is
indeed a false positive.

[Bug 402017] Re: GDM login theme change when using accessibility features

2009-10-30 Thread Jhongy
Me too -- new login screen looked great. Only saw it properly themed
once. Observed on a live image, fresh-installed machine, and a machine
upgraded from Jaunty. Disappointing -- I won't be clicking on the
ACODBIT again

[Bug 464458] [NEW] Music Stops Playing Randomly

2009-10-30 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. After a song or two,
Rhythmbox stops playing music. It seems to happen randomly no matter
what song, artist or genre I'm playing. Clicking on buttons does
nothing. The program doesn't seem to freeze or crash. It just refuses
to respond to clicking play, pause or changing of songs. I can open up
some menus in the program just not change any options or do any thing
else. I also can't close the program. I end up having to use System
Monitor to kill it. Nothing in my music collection has changed and
played with out problems in Janunty.

If any one needs more data of what's going on under the hood when this
happens tell me what commands in shell to run and I'll provide a more
detailed report. It wont be hard to reproduce this, I just have to
start playing music and it'll randomly happen again.

[Bug 424043] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in open64()

2009-10-30 Thread Christian Kellner
It looks like your metadata store is got corrupted, leading to an
infinite loop in the code.

FIX:
The fix here is to remove the metadata storage, located in:
~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata. BEFORE you do that, could you please send me (or
attach) the file ~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/home for better analysis what
is going on here.

[Bug 462724] Re: Installed user's keyboard doesn't match that chosen during installation of Karmic?

2009-10-30 Thread Dave Martin
This is using auto-login. I didn't select anything explicitly, so I was
expecting the system default to be used.

Maybe there is something wrong with the initial user's preferences are
initialised during installation?

I currently have a reinstall under way; I'll try to answer the other
points when that's done.

[Bug 464535] [NEW] Battery monitor on tray says Laptop battery is fully charged all the time

2009-10-30 Thread Allan Caeg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

On Karmic, the battery monitor on the system tray says Laptop battery
is fully charged all the time. However, when I click it, the drop-down
entry would state the right battery charged percentage.

Also, even when my system is set to hibernate when the charge is
critically low, it just shuts down when the battery charge runs out. Is
this a connected issue or do I have to report another bug?
