[Bug 403291] Re: Unable to change the default session for GDM

2009-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
Reopening for lucid. According to upstream, we shouldn't use this
default.session hack, but rather reintroduce a setting in custom.conf:

[daemon]
DefaultSession=gnome.desktop

*-default-settings can then change this in their postinst scripts.

[Bug 481787] [NEW] Ekiga should ignore spaces in telephone number

2009-11-13 Thread Duncan Lithgow
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ekiga

At the moment if I put in a regular telephone number in the format +12 3
45678945 Ekiga will not only play stupid and ignore everything after the
first space, but it will actually delete everything after the first
space. So actually ringing out with ekiga doesn't just work.

I suggest off the top of my head one of two solutions: a.) ignore spaces

[Bug 481797] [NEW] Gdm displays the full name of the user rather than the username

2009-11-13 Thread Dave Morley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

Gdm no longer displays the username but rather the full name of the
user. This could be confusing for new users who need to login via tty
in order to fix something following a tutorial or for those unable to
use a mouse.

Every login screen should be consistent to remove any chance of
confusion. I beleive that gdm should therefore either list the full
name and underneath the username, or only display the username this
would make it far clearer to any new user as to what you need to type
in.

However I'm not sure whether I should file a bug similar to this one,
titled Update to gstreamer bad plug-ins 0.10.16, targeted at the
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad package, or whether I should file a bug titled
Totem cannot stream MIDI files over HTTP, targeted at the totem
 package.

A bug title Totem cannot stream MIDI files over HTTP is better since
it describes the effect and thus is searchable, but the bug should be
filed against gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad.

[Bug 430811] Re: evince prints files scaled to portrait orientation, despite needing landscape

2009-11-13 Thread Martin Pitt
It seems to me that upside-down printing (where you can just flip the
paper) is much better than the current situation in karmic-final, where
it just crops half of the page. Do people agree? I'm inclined to count
this as verification-done, if there are new bug reports about the
remaining issues.

[Bug 466112] seahorse-agent... HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE

2009-11-13 Thread Paco Soberón
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 429322 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429322

Please try this:

1.- Go to the web:
https://launchpad.net/

2.- If you're not logged in, use the link on the upper right corner to
log in.

3.- Click your own user name in the upper right corner to go your
personal Launchpad page.

4.- In the column titled Participation (on the right) click on Bugs.

5.- Click on Advanced Search under the search textbox. Scroll down and
unmark the option Hide duplicate bugs. Then click Search.

6.- Look for the bug(s) you reported yourself. If you didn't change the
summary while reporting, it should say seahorse-agent But it may
be different. In any case, it shouldn't be very difficult to find.
(Hint: look for the bugs with the greater bug number.)

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click Unsubscribe on the right
column.

Sorry I just did the auto bug report and have no idea why this is
continuing. Can you tell me what to do to make it quit sending the
 duplicates? Thanks

 Hi,

I receive a lot of seahorse-agent assert failure from you since today

Is it possible to stop your advise because the response about the bug
you advise us is a duplicate bug 429322

[Bug 38240] Re: The panel encountered a problem while loading OAFIID:GNOME_NetstatusApplet.

2009-11-13 Thread blackest_knight
The panel encountered a problem while loading
OAFIID:GNOME_NetstatusApplet

I got this message and after looking for

/usr/lib/gnome-netstatus/gnome-netstatus-applet

and not finding it, had a look for

gnome-netstatus-applet

in synaptic , yes it was in synaptics database but it wasn't installed
on my system. installing it made the error message go away. It must
have been left in the configuration when I upgraded from jaunty to
karmic.

This was done crudely by booting karmic desktop cd and mounting the
existing file system without reformatting the drive. probably the
loading of the gnome_netstatus-applet is called somewhere in my home
folder.

[Bug 481830] [NEW] No way to return from fullscreen (top menu doesn't appear)

2009-11-13 Thread David Fokkema
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vinagre

In Jaunty, when using vinagre fullscreen, you can move your mouse
pointer to the top of the screen and then the top menu appears. You can
return to windowed mode, change zoom, send ctrl-alt-del, things like
that.

In Karmic, this menu seems to be present (thin gray line at top of
screen) but it doesn't appear when you move your mouse pointer to the
top of the screen. And since vinagre captures all keystrokes, I don't
know how to return from fullscreen, other than killing vinagre from a
tty.

[Bug 481528] Re: Volumes with photo MIME type do not have a camera icon

2009-11-13 Thread piratemurray
Hi Martin I checked out bug #472937 and I think this scenario is when
the user has a drive that is powered on and connected before starting
the session.

Whilst my camera is connected to the computer before my GNOME session it
is only in the physical sense (it sits in a docking station with a
connection to the USB port). It isn't powered on before I start my
session so in that respect it is not connected. Other than that the rest
of the scenario is the same - I have to click on the media in the Places
menu before I see a desktop icon.

[Bug 33288] Re: Evince doesn't handle columns properly

2009-11-13 Thread Brian Ewins
I've uploaded an updated patch series to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3188 , with corrections to
selection and reading order. Those of you who can apply these and
rebuild evince might want to give this a go? Comments over there please!
For me it fixes up selection for most (but not all) of the documents on
the various dupes of this bug, including the one at comment #7. If
you're going to tell me about a document it doesn't work on, don't paste
a link, upload the pdf, please (half of the reported-buggy docs are dead
links now).

Caveats: doesn't cover RTL or documents with rotated text.

[Bug 481840] [NEW] Package should be named with a name not a word

2009-11-13 Thread TimP
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Software packages should have unique names.
Names should not contain punctuation.
Names should not contain spaces.

Evolution is an important word, not the name of a mail client.

Whilst we are at it lets have names for gnome, canonical, eclipse to
mention just a few.

[Bug 442078] Re: Buttons in Eclipse not working correctly with GTK+ 2.18.1-1

2009-11-13 Thread Brett Randall
Today I hit an issue that raises the severity for me - I've been running
with GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true happily, however today I wanted to launch
self-hosted Plugin Development Environment (PDE), where under-
development plugins are hosted in a new Workbench instance launched from
the original Eclipse Workbench.

I couldn't see immediately how to set GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true on the
target PDE runtime Workbench launched - the setting does _not_ propagate
automatically to the new process.

7.- Click on the bug to open it, then click Unsubscribe on the right
 column.

[Bug 472437] Re: gnome-system-monitor keeps crashing with signal 7 (on a Jaunty booted from USB)

2009-11-13 Thread CoolKoon
When I run the command from the console, that is. When I run it from a real
(CTRL+F1 etc.) terminal, there are these additional errors:
[591959.442817] SQUASHFS error: sb_bread failed reading block 0x82088
[591959.442902] SQUASHFS error: Unable to read page, block 2081daa7, size 48d8
I guess these are kernel error messages (impossible to copy/redirect), and
looks like they pretty much say that I should replace my squashfs file. Sorry
for the false alarm. Is there some way to fix these errors BTW?

[Bug 147150] Re: Mixed-mode CDs not automounted nor hinted for mounting

2009-11-13 Thread Uwe Mock
I have almost this same problem on Karmic.

I use Kubuntu 9.10, and upon inserting a mixed mode CD, the KDE
automounter offers me to play it as an audio CD or copy the CD with K3B.
Neither of it will work, and I also cannot access the data part of the

Even worse, I cannot rip the CD with Grip. When I start ripping, the CD
starts to spin, and Grip crashes with the following output:

cI use ubuntu 9.10 with the latest update on an laptop acer aspire 5735z.
When I login tomboy will start automatically. Because I have select the
option automatically remember running applications when Loggin out in

also automatically. So I go to the same options tab in startup applications
and push the button that say remember currently running application (I
have first start empathy of-course ). Now you can see that empathy and
tomboy are disappear from the system-bar. When you try to restart tomboy it
will not startup again and empathy will restart correctly. If I look to the
System monitor in systemadministration it is still there (status: zomby).
If you restart the system then you see tomboy again, but not empathy.

logical that you are not subscribed to that bug, unless you did it
intentionally.

But if you are still receiving the notifications, it means that you are
subscribed to another bug... to the one you reported yourself. That's
why you have to go to your personal Launchpad page and search for your
bugs. And that's why you have to unmark Hide duplicate bugs, as I
described in my previous message, since the bug you reported will be
hidden as duplicate (of course, duplicate of the infamous Bug #429322).

Then you will find the bug (or bugs) that you reported yourself and will
be able to unsubscribe.

If you have more problems, do not hesitate to reply again.

[Bug 461424] Re: mouse trapped no clicks even outside of window possible

2009-11-13 Thread Kevin Cheng
For me, it doesn't seem to work for all images. I came across it when
reading manga on onemanga.com. Perhaps it involves javascript?

Example of how to get epiphany bugged:
open epiphany and go to: http://www.onemanga.com/Naruto/471/01/
Click the picture and try to drag it somewhere. (The image will turn blue, a
smaller copy of the image will follow the cursor, and the cursor changes to
cursor+hand.)
Repeatedly click/drag the picture while scrolling the mouse wheel.
If this doesn't work for 3-4 tries, click on the image to go to the next page
and try again.

When the bug triggers, several things happen.
The cursor freezes in cursor+hand mode (sometimes in cursor + plus mode), and
mouse clicks stop registering. I can't click, right click, or scroll whell on
anything at all.
Mouseovers still seem to half-work. Mousing over the clock on the toolbar shows
a date tooltip, but the clock itself doesn't highlight.
Keyboard also half-works. I am unable to use alt+tab to switch to new
applications.
I am able to hit F11 and fullscreen toggle epiphany while this is happening.
I can alt+F2 to run new applications and windows. I can use my hotkey to open
up terminal, etc.
Opening up new applications switches focus to it. I can't switch back to any
previously opened applications though.
To recover, I open up terminal and do $pkill epiphany

[Bug 430811] Re: evince prints files scaled to portrait orientation, despite needing landscape

2009-11-13 Thread kwurzel
It seems to me that upside-down printing (where you can just flip the
paper) is much better than the current situation in karmic-final,
where it just crops half of the page. Do people agree? I'm inclined to
count this as verification-done, if there are new bug reports about
 the remaining issues.

[Bug 480394] Re: home folder icon doesn't change to open in spatial mode

2009-11-13 Thread Bernard François
I tried to reproduce this bug on another computer running ubuntu 9.04
and nautilus 2.26.2

There, folders are never shown as open. This removes the inconsistency,
but is less user friendly (users can no longer see that the folder is
already open).

[Bug 480895] Re: Cannot select orientation in printing dialog

2009-11-13 Thread kwurzel
The orientation can be changed in page setup (File-Page Setup).

So, actually, the problem is a wrong preview in the dialog. This has
been reported upstream at
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526581 more than one year
ago. Maybe we should make some noise there. :-)
