As far as I know, the only way to stop the screensavers activating
(after a delay) is to uninstall gnome-screensaver.
I don't see gnome-screensaver in the ps aux list, which means it's not
running as a background process, and i am not invoking it knowingly. If
I do invoke it from the terminal it

describe is not a gnome-screensaver bug, and is also completely normal.
Xorg has a built-in screensaver, which gnome-screensaver disables when

Same issue here on Karmic final. Was displaying well until a week ago. I
added another location to the list. Then the taskbar display just
disappeared. Tried - removing second location, removing the
/etc/timezone, readding my location several times. Doesn't work.

Thanks Timo. The pdf you posted displays correctly for me on Karmic with
Adobe Acrobat. I will try Okular with my problem pdf files and report
back.
PS I was unable to post my problem pdf files that were a problem for me
as they contained personal data. Evince and XPDF still have exactly the
