Well, I can confirm you that in Karmic it's not fixed at all.
Additionally, this is a bug that many users can experience without being
able to easily reach the relevant launchpad bug entry. I myself tried

I'm also affected by this bug, zip archives containing files with
filenames containing accented or special characters like: á, é, í, ó, ú
can not be extracted (I get this error message: caution: filename not
matched) nor renamed.
Also if I edit a file with spaces in its filename, File Roller
Note that colors seem to change (i.e. if you get pinged on a channel,
you get the pinged color), they just don't revert back to the normal
when you check out the channel. At the end of the day, it makes it very
difficult to see any notification.
