To add the printer log into another desktop environment, even Unity works. Once
the printer is added it will work in Gnome 3. But as far as I know you can't do
it in Gnome 3 itself.
As far as a fix goes, my own interpretation doesn't leave me feeling
confident that it will get fixed by Gnome

While downloading Ubuntu 11:10 the computer froze, and after re-booting
I was unable to log in using the normal screen. Not being familiar with
programming I'm unable to assist you in finding where the problem is

What happens: Alt+F opens the File menu item and Alt+B shows the
menubar (but does not open any menu item, because no menu item
corresponding to that key combination exists).
What should happen: Alt+B moves the cursor back one word, and Alt+F
