[Bug 1405912] [NEW] Evince eats all CPU and all memory

2014-12-27 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
Public bug reported:

Evince eats all CPU and all memory, while opening certain types of
documents. I've noticed that this reproducible with PDF documents
produced with LaTeX but not with other types of PDF documents.

The culprit seems to be a process called evince-thumbnailer. Even after
closing the document that causes this, evince-thumbnailer continues to
work in the background and keeps eating CPU and RAM memory. If this
process is killed, it restarts itself and continues hogging CPU and
memory.

I attach a file causing this and the stacktrace I produced. I'm
reproducing this in two different systems of mine.

Workaround:
Open the dconf editor, navigate to org.gnome.desktop.thumbnailers and set the
key disable to ['application/x-dvi'].

[Bug 1386120] [NEW] evince and evince-thumbnailer stuck with high cpu load

2014-12-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Both evince and evince-thumbnailer get stuck with high CPU load when
trying to open a DVI file with embedded EPS images. The DVI is output
from latex. Very annoying as evince-thumbnailer is triggered
automatically in the background every time the DVI file changes.

This is a regression as it was working fine just two days ago with 14.04
before the update.

2014-12-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Walter Garcia-Fontes, I've not been able to reproduce this in either
Trusty with gnome-session-flasback (Compiz) or Vivid with Unity. It may
be that it's fixed in Vivid, or it could be I'm not doing something that
you are with the attached document that causes this.

Hence, could you please test for this in Vivid via
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise if this is
reproducible there?

[Bug 1322925] Re: Copy, paste stops working randomly in Ubuntu 14.04 nautilus

2014-12-27 Thread Alexandre Laurent
I can confirm this problem affects me as well on several computers
running 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 that have been clean installed (not upgraded
from previous versions). I usually work with several Nautilus windows
that each have several tabs open in them, spread on multiple workspaces.
I move around and copy or cut and paste, rename files, etc.

I mostly use keyboard shortcuts. Ctrl+T to open new tabs, Ctrl+L to
access the location bar, Ctrl+A to select all files, Shift or Ctrl +
arrows to make selections, Ctrl+C/X/V to cut/copy paste, Alt+Tab to
switch between windows, Alt+Shift + number to select tab, Ctrl+Alt +
arrows to choose workspaces, Ctrl+Logo + arrows to arrange windows on
screen, etc.

When the problem occurs, seemingly randomly, shortcuts local to the
currently open tabs stop working (Ctrl+C/X/V, Ctrl+A). Global shortcuts
and shortcuts local to the encompassing windows keep working (Alt+Tab,
Ctrl+Alt + arrows, Ctrl+Logo + arrows, Alt+Shift + number, Ctrl+L,
etc.).

Killing Nautilus (or logging off then back in) fixes the problem
temporarily. My work around is to drag and drop the files between
windows or tabs, but this is really cumbersome.

I don't remember having this problem with previous versions of Ubuntu.

[Bug 1385292] Re: can't rename files in nautilus

2014-12-27 Thread dess
It looks like it's not Nautilus bug, but IBus.

Workarounds found:

* Disable IBus: set Keyboard input method system to None ( System Settings
- Language Support - Language tab).
* Execute in terminal killall ibus-daemon

This bug should be attached to corresponding IBus bug (which should be
created in case it's not reported yet (sorry, can't do it by myself,
short of time a bit).

Re: [Bug 1311912] Re: PDF Rendering problem with evince

2014-12-27 Thread Michel Desmarais
Dear Christopher

The bug had to do with an installation issue with texlive. I first
tried an upgrade to see if it fixed the problem, and apt-get reported it
was not installed (I am not sure how it was installed previously, but
apparently I had an older version; but I did have the same problem on my
laptop and my workstation). So I just installed it through apt-get and
the rendering is ok now.

While not that obvious this can be a quite useful feature, for instance if you

which you don't want to show up in history.

I've taken the liberty to close this issue. Feel free to report any bugs

[Bug 1241101]

2014-12-27 Thread JPTTEST
Hi,

I simply don't understand why nobody fixes this bug.
This was already discussed a thousand times.
See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=430736

The problem occurs in any eclipse versions I tried (beginning with
eclipse-3.8 from Ubuntu repo).

workarounds are either:

export SWT_GTK3=0

for me also worked
export SWT_GTK3=1

the other bug says put into eclipse.ini:
--launcher.GTK_version
2

If you don't fix it, why don't you deliver any of the workarounds?

2014-12-27 Thread teo1978
Yes, it obviously still is an issue. It hasn't been fixed and all is the
same.

ANY document with a paper size equal to or bigger than the dimensions I
mentioned will reproduce the issue. (sorry I don't have one ready that I
can share, it should be trivial to generate one). The issue should be
easy to spot in the source code without even reproducing it, btw.

[Bug 1369028] Re: Slow thumbnail generation and scrolling

2014-12-27 Thread Heineken
Yes, unfortunately no change so far.
A document that shows the effect nicely is this one: (~37 MB)
http://prelude.de/NSX/Service%20Manual%20-%201997.pdf

Simply try to scroll 10-20 pages as fast as your mouse wheel allows.
Without thumbnail side-bar it scrolls absolutely smooth. When the side-bar is
enabled though, every page is stuck loading until it's thumbnail is loaded.

PS: I tried to file an upstream bug but the description above is so
generic that I got lost evey time I tried.

[Bug 1369028] Re: Slow thumbnail generation and scrolling

2014-12-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Heineken, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping
to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been
fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Vivid Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.
